Information about Medemblik

Medemblik is the oldest city in West Friesland. It obtained city rights in 1289 from Count Floris V of Holland, who had just subjected West Friesland to burial authority. In the center you will find modern and historic fraternally side by side. Beautiful yachts and historic ships of the brown fleet moor in the modern harbors of the historic city center. Sitting on one of the terraces you can watch all the hustle and bustle on the water from behind a nice drink.

Medemblik is located in North Holland on the IJsselmeer. A beautiful city that is definitely worth a visit. Around Medemblik are numerous villages that are all worth visiting, such as Opperdoes or the authentic Twiske

Monuments

The city has many museums; in a prominent place is Radboud Castle, dating from the late 13th century. At the Bakery Museum the most delicious delicacies are baked using traditional methods, and at the Steam Engine Museum you can learn all about the development of the steam engine. Medemblik is also a stop for the Hoorn-Medemblik steam streetcar.
