The route starts at the restaurant de Vooroever where you can park your car. You cycle in the direction of Medemblik. Enjoy cycling with the wind in your face and endless views over the IJsselmeer. Blessedly relax and let yourself be taken away into old times. Picturesque places that let you relax by enjoying their past. Enkhuizen is known as Haringstad because of its past in herring fishing. Along the way you will pass the tastiest museum in the Netherlands, the Bakery Museum. try making your own lollipop. In Medemblik you will find Castle Radboud, inhabited by Count Floris V of Holland. He had this castle built to keep the West Frisians in check. You can let off some steam in the Steam Engine Museum. Nowhere else will you find so many working steam engines together as in the Steam Engine Museum, located in the former Vier Noorder Koggen steam pumping station on the IJsselmeer in Medemblik.
