Zaanse Schans Route 30 km 1 hour en 40 minutes

This route takes you past the recreation area Het Twiske, with a beautiful nature reserve, along the meadows and peat meadow area, you will arrive at De Zaanse Schans and Zaandam. You start this route from Amsterdam or leave with the possibility of parking at Hotel van de Valk Oostzaan. You cycle through the recreation area Het Twiske, which consists for a third of water. In addition to relaxation by and on the water, you can enjoy hours of walking, cycling or rollerblading in the varied landscape. Forest, nature reserves and meadows. Here you can still play with the children, sail a boat or enjoy a lovely terrace on the water. You will pass the Reformed Church in Oostzaan. This is a cross church with a wooden tower above the facade decorated with rococo curls. This is the village of grocer Albert Heijn, founded at the beginning of 1860. You also reach the Oostzaanerveld, a beautiful nature reserve and beautiful with their peat meadow area, this leads you to the Zaanse Schans, this is the working area where you can relive the 18th and 19th centuries. You cycle along Ilpenveld where many special animal species have their habitat. Along the way you will come across cozy terraces and craft shops.

This route leads you along the old Schoorldam straight through the polders to the coast of Petten and then cycle along the coast to the forest and dunes of Schoorl. Spot nearly 900 different mushrooms or see how many plants you can find. Discover how the tulip from Tibet came to the Netherlands in the Land of Fluwel. Play until you no longer can at park the Goldfish. All this while you cycled all the way there yourself . Through the dunes, on windie roads , with beautiful tulip fields, in the meadows, you see the lambs, goats and cows. You can go just a little bit further and then enjoy a delicious pancake at Duinvermaak.

Circular dyke between Enkhuizen Medemblik 49 km, 3 hours

This route leads you along the beautiful IJsselmeer and through the beautiful landscape of the area, including Medemblik and Enkhuizen. The route starts at the restaurant Vooroever where you can park your car. Than cycle towards Medemblik. Enjoy cycling with the wind on your face and endlessly overlooking the IJsselmeer. Get carried away in ancient times . Picturesque places that let you relax and just enjoy. Enkhuizen is known as Herring town because of its past in herring fishing. On the way there you come to the Tastiest museum in the Netherlands, the Bakery museum try to make your own lolipop. Located in Medemblik you find the Radboud Castle inhabited by Count Floris V of Holland. He built this fortress to keep the West Frisians in check. You can let off some steam in the Steam Engine Museum. Nowhere else can you find so many steam engines still working together as at the Steam Engine Museum, located in the former steam pumping station Vier Noorder Koggen. A museum fun for young and old!

This tour takes you from Volendam through the low-lying peat meadow area of Waterland and its picturesque villages. You pass Edam and Purmerend and via Monnickendam where you have a beautiful view of the Gouwzee and Markermeer. You start the route at Rent Events where you can rent a bicycle or scooter for a 10% discount! And you can park your car here. Volendam, the village that is internationally renowned. The regional dress often represents the national dress. When you take a break on the terrace, you will probably see someone in traditional clothing. You cycle through the low-lying peat meadow area of Waterland, and in Edam you cycle past merchant houses from a bygone era. Here you can still see the boats passing through one of the oldest bridges on the terrace of "De Fortuna", manually operated by the harbor master. On the dike you can visit the Cheese factory where they give a demonstration of cheese making and where you can taste cheese, and let's be honest, do you know how cheese is made?

Feel the salty sea breeze go through your hair. This route leads you from Egmond aan Zee straight through the North Holland Dune Reserve through the beautiful polder along the Alkmaardermeer to the pilgrimage site in Heiloo and interesting places around Egmond, a unique part of the Netherlands. You can rent a bicycle at Bike Mike. Cycle through the dune landscape and see how the land changes. At Knoest it is time for a break on the terrace. Then you cycle in good spirits through the Dutch polder landscape towards the Alkmaardermeer. View the old varieties of bulb plants. The tranquility you will find at the holy Runxputte, this is a well-known pilgrimage site in Heiloo. Also take a look at the church, and take a sip of the holy water. Cool off by taking a nice dip in the swimming pool “het Baafje”. Through the beautiful bulb fields you will pass the Slotfundament van Egmond aan den Hoef. This castle was burnt down in 1573 under the leadership of Diederick Sonoy. In Egmond aan Zee you will see the lighthouse of Van Speijk. This sea lieutenant would rather blow up his ship than surrender to the Belgian enemy.

This route leads you along beautiful polders and dikes along old villages, among others, Schagen Sint maarten and Waarland. The route starts in Schagen. Schagen is centuries old, written in 975 as Scagha, meaning "excellent point. This was referred to the mounds, because only in the thirteenth century the sea drew back and the land was fertile. Through this area you will cycle across the West Omringdijk, bird lovers can enjoy themselves here. Here you can find the Marsh Harrier, Wanders and Avocet, but also you can encouter a zebra, golden eagle, crested capuchin monkeys, therefor you must be at Blanckendaell Park. You cycle allong over some of our beautiful narrow dikes to arrive in Waarland. Here turn right on Smeetsweg to visit the home to more than 1,000 butterflies in Vlindorado. So you see, again, the nature of North Holland has many sides.You and yourè tour at the Markt in Schagen. We recomend Restaurant "Bastard". A name with a nod to the past. A name that refers to the first "lord of Schagen", William of Bavaria. Also called the bastard of North Holland. We would also like to introduce the city garden "De Oude Boom". Also a name with a past. At the time of Igesz, this space already bore this name and not just like that. The big tree in the garden is the oldest monumental tree in Schagen.

You can park your car on the Industrial Beverkoog at the Hortus. This route leads you along the Nature Reserve ‘Geestmerambacht’ and the beautiful polders of North Holland. Enter Hortus, an oasis of nature. Here are 2 hactares and 550 different kind of medicinal herbs. Enjoy the view in the tea garden.
Turn right on to the bike path next to the headquarters of VSM and drive on a backroad into St Pancras. Cycle through the Geestmerambacht Nature Reserve, and enjoy the terrace of Gasterij de Molengroet
Visit the oldest sail-through vegetable auction in the world with a historic auction building, ‘The Broeker Veiling’ Seat yourself on the auction benches and bid on the vetetables that passes trough. Still not had enough of our beautiful Noord Holland then we advise you to stay at Camping de Kolibrie. Delightful friendly campsite with possibilities for a cabin in the middle of the Dutch Polder.

This route takes you from Egmond aan de Hoef along beautiful rolling polders, flower fields to the beautiful city of Alkmaar. You can see how the environment changes from forest to the beautiful dune area of Bergen aan Zee. The route starts in Egmond aan de Hoef where you cycle through the polder to the beautiful old city of Alkmaar. Cycle along the beautiful courtyards and beautiful canals. Along the way you will pass several mills, in particular the “Molen van Piet”. The Piet family has lived here since 1884. You leave the city and cycle through the polder through the flowerfields to the North Holland Dune Reserve, the area is becoming greener and denser. In Bergen aan Zee you can visit, the Sea Aquarium and look at the wonders underwater. The landscape changes slowly and you enter the dune area. Get off at Landgoed Huize Glory and see how high the dune tops are, some up to 30 meters! Beautiful view from the terrace. A wonderful route where you can fully enjoy nature.

Zee, bollen en polders

This route leads you through the dunes of Callantsoog, along the coast to Petten and on winding dikes and quiet long roads you cycle past villages such as Tuitjenhorn, Schagen and 't Zand. Most hours of sunshine can be found in the Netherlands on the North Sea coast. In the North Holland polder, you have a good chance of driving this route in bright weather. The route starts in the dunes of Callantsoog at Hotel 't Zwaantje. Here you can charge the battery of your bicycle and for yourself. Enjoy the beautiful dune area towards Petten. On winding dykes and quiet country roads you cycle through farmland and bulb fields where tulips, daffodils and hyacinths bloom in the first months of the season. The landscape is lined with countless ditches and canals. During your tour you will pass a number of striking buildings.
