This route takes you past the Geestmerambacht Nature Reserve and the beautiful polders of North Holland. The route starts at Hortus Alkmaar on the Beverkoog industrial estate. Step inside the Hortus, a 2-hectare oasis of nature with as many as 800 species of medicinal plants. Enjoy the rock garden, the vegetable garden, the dune garden, the heath forest, the American forest, the special pond and if you are lucky, 'our' kingfishers. A nice drink with a bite to eat on our atmospheric terrace is also highly recommended.Turn right next to the old VSM headquarters onto the cycle path and ride along the back road into Sint Pancras. Cycle through the Geestmerambacht Nature Reserve. If you haven't had enough of our beautiful North Holland, we can recommend Camping de Kolibrie. Lovely, friendly campsite with all the facilities in the middle of the Dutch polder landscape.

Cape Hoorn 'The Good Hope' route 50 km 3 hours

This route takes you through the characteristic villages around the Hoorn area and the open countryside with striking church towers and centuries-old farmhouses. The heart of West Friesland. On winding roads, you will cycle past beautifully decorated farmhouses that testify to former prosperity. Many national monuments pass by. You will cycle through bulb fields and beautiful meadows. Here, the sky is still particularly high and light. You will visit Hoorn with its many museums and see the Statencollege from 1632 on the Rode Steen. The Westfries Museum is temporarily housed in the Statencollege, the Museum of the Golden Age. But above all, visit the harbour.

Cycle to the herring town of Enkhuizen

This route leads you along the beautiful IJsselmeer and through the beautiful landscape of the surrounding area, including Enkhuizen. The route starts in Andijk at the corner of Dijkweg Middenweg at junction 15. Enjoy cycling with the wind in your face and endless views over the IJsselmeer towards Enkhuizen, known as Haringstad (herring city) because of its past in herring fishing. At the bottom of the Dom tower, enjoy an ice cream from Vivaldi while enjoying the spectacle of the harbour.

Hollandse Glorie route (42 km)

From Volendam, this route leads you through the low-lying peat meadow area of Waterland and its picturesque villages. You will pass Edam and Purmerend, and via Monnickendam you will have beautiful views of the Gouwzee and the Markermeer. You start the route at De Dijk in Volendam, the village of international fame. It often represents the national costume. If you take a break on the terrace, you are bound to see someone else in traditional dress. You will cycle through the low-lying peat meadow area of Waterland, and in Edam you will pass merchant houses from days gone by. Here, on the terrace of 'De Fortuna', you can still see the boats passing through one of the oldest bridges, manually operated by the harbour master. On the Zeedijk, you can visit Henri Willig's Alida Hoeve, where they give a cheese-making demonstration and where you can taste cheese - and honestly, do you know how cheese is made?

Medieval times, monks and a salty sea breeze 34 km

Let your hair blow in the salty sea breeze. This route leads you from Egmond aan Zee straight through the Noord-Hollands Duinreservaat through the beautiful polder along the Alkmaardermeer to the pilgrimage site in Heiloo and interesting places around Egmond, a unique piece of the Netherlands. You can hire a bicycle at Bike Mike. Enjoy cycling through the dune landscape and see how the land changes, at Knoest it is time for a break on the terrace. Then cycle in good spirits through the Dutch polder landscape towards the Alkmaarder Lake. See the old varieties of bulbous plants. The rest you will find at the holy Runxputte, this is a well-known place of pilgrimage in Heiloo. Also take a look at the little church, and take a sip of the holy water. Cool off by taking a nice dip in the swimming pool "het Baafje". Through the beautiful bulb fields, you will pass the Castle of Egmond aan den Hoef. This Castle was burned down in 1573 under the leadership of Diederick Sonoy. In Egmond aan Zee, you will see Van Speijk's lighthouse. This lieutenant at sea preferred to blow up his ship rather than surrender to the Belgian enemy.

Where town and dunes come together 32 1 hour and 45 mintues

This route takes you from the Plein in Bergen past beautiful rolling polders, flower fields to the historic town of Alkmaar. You leave Bergen and cycle through the polder via the flower fields to the Noord Hollands Duinreservaat, the surroundings becoming greener and denser. In Bergen aan Zee, enjoy the sea step off, and watch the eternal swell of the water. A lovely route where you can enjoy nature to the full, after which you will cross the historic town of Alkmaar and pass its pretty courtyards and beautiful canals. Along the way, you will pass several windmills, in particular "Molen van Piet". The Piet family has still lived here since 1884.

Zee, bollen en polders

This route takes you through the dunes of Callantsoog , along the coast to Petten and over winding dykes and quiet long roads you cycle to Den Helder. In the Netherlands, you will find the most hours of sunshine on the North Sea coast. In the North Holland polder, you therefore have a good chance of riding this route in glorious weather. The route starts in the dunes of Callantsoog at Hotel 't Zwaantje. Here you can charge the battery of your bike and yourself. You can hire a bike at Kroon Tweewielers in the centre of Callantsoog. Enjoy the beautiful dune area towards Petten. Over winding dikes and quiet country roads, you cycle through farmland and bulb fields where tulips, daffodils and hyacinths bloom in abundance in the first months of the season. The landscape is veined with numerous ditches and canals. On your tour, you will pass a number of landmark buildings.
