Flag Day (Vlaggetjesdag) is celebrated every year in June in and around the first and second harbour of Scheveningen, to announce the arrival of the Hollandse Nieuwe fresh herring. In 2011 this event will be held on Saturday 11 June.
In the summer, there are also many events taking place such as surfing events, beach festivals and the renowned kite festival.
