City walk Utrecht

Start your walk at the Mariahoek.  Nrs 16-17 used to be a Catholic chaplain’s room,  an orphanage as well as an old folks’ home. Go through the gate at the Academy of Music and walk through the gardens of the Courtyard of the former Mariakerk church. Further on you will see Cityhall Oudaen. You walk to the Oudegracht where wealthy merchants built their houses. You walk along the canal and find Balkangrill Boro (7) with we recomand for the best steak of Utrecht. You continues you journey through the St. Jacobstraat and over the Nieuwkade to the Voorstraat. below at the wharf you will find Il Pozzo. (3) check out the umbrellas on the terrace and see the Utrechts anthem. For fresh. At the Vismarkt  you can eat delicious authentic apple dumplings at Graaf Floris. (15) You will arrive at the Dom . Behind the Cathedral you can visit the Pandhof of the cathedral. Near the end of the Nieuwegracht is the Beijerskameren  "housing for needy elderly" and the Kameren van Maria van Pallaes. You walk along the ramparts to the famous Nijntje Musuem.  And walk via the Doelstraat to the Twijnstraat. (check if the green door is open and take a look in the garden of the former St. Nicholas Monastery. Across the canal you find Kazerij Stalenhoef (8), uniquely decorated with the largest assortment of cheese in Utrecht. At the first bridge you cross teh Oudergracht. You are now at the Lange Rozendaal At  the seven alleyways , an old laborer district  . Turn right at Andreasstraat and walk along the Andreashof . If you walk in there, In this oasis of tranquillity you see the cottages that are located at the Tuinstraat at the back. Continue to the Mieropskameren . You will see many imperfections in the wall and window frames. Walk through the gate and turn right. The white building is a former Regular Monastery.  Below, at wharf level, is Secondsas (18) and in the Museumkwartier you will find Cacao, an artisan chocolate shop.(17) Both companies are located in a beautiful listed building.  Continue until you return to the starting point.
